Immanence and Transcendence

The shining Self dwells hidden in the heart. Everything in the cosmos, great and small, lives in the Self.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Don’t go back to sleep. You must ask for what you really want. Don’t go back to sleep…

Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s spirit dwells in you?

Though God be everywhere present, yet He is only present to thee in the deepest and most central part of thy soul…

The heart is a sanctuary at the center of which there is a little space, wherein the Great Spirit dwells, and this is the Eye.

At the center of our being is a point of nothingness which is untouched by sin and by illusion, a point of pure truth, a point or spark which belongs entirely to God…

The truth is that you are always united with the Lord. But you must know this.

Pure Spirit reaches in the four directions, flows now this way, now that—There is no place it does not extend to.

I have always seen this light [the cloud of the living light]—Sometimes I behold within this light another light [the living light itself]. And when I look upon it, every sadness and pain vanishes from my memory…

In order to know the center of the heart where the Great Spirit dwells you must be pure and good, and live in the manner that the Great Spirit has taught us.

A human being is part of the whole, called by us ‘universe,’ a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separate from the rest—a kind of optical delusion of consciousness.

When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.

Every person possesses elements of the ideal of creation [our original, eternal nature] within his or her heart.

God is not just transcendent; but is also immanent in the universe.

Being Self-led means honoring both of these truths equally: immanence—fully engaging our humanness—and transcendence or liberation—knowing that there’s so much more.
