Shoghi Effendi, the Guardian of the Baha’i Faith said: “We have the Gathas of Zoroaster which are authentic”. With this in mind I [Baha’i Forums*] would like to focus upon some of my favorite verses from the Gathas:
Zoroaster also preached for the development and progress of human civilization. Although the Gathas are Hymns, they really do offer us a genuine, authentic remnant of the Great Revelation of his Holiness Zarathustra (Zoroaster). In this thread I will be offering many more quotes from the Gathas and interpreting them….

Whereby the well-doers, in accordance with the teaching of the Spiritual Guides, acting in harmony with Truth alone, Shall pass onward to the assigned reward of which Thou art the bestower, O Mazda! This precious reward of Thine, O Mazda, Thou givest by way of the Good Mind, Thou givest to those who perform actions through knowledge and pure thought; who attempt for the progress and development of the world; fulfill God’s desire and try for the progress of God’s Will through truth and righteousness.”

Through Cyrus the Great, one of the holiest and honored men of the Old Testament, the teachings of Zoroaster – of One God, of respect for all religions and Universal justice– has made its way into the Word of God itself, the Bible. The Magi also confirmed that the Zoroastrian Revelation was true and expecting the Coming of Christ as Messiah, when they followed the star that led them to Bethlehem 2,000 years ago to pay homage to the infant Jesus. It is with this in mind, that I have the confidence to declare that Zoroaster was a true Prophet of God. As Abraham and Moses were to the the Ancient Jews, Zoroaster was to Ancient Iran….

“Since, O Mazda, from the beginning, Thou didst create soul and body; mental power and knowledge and since Thou didst place life within the corporeal body and didst bestow to mankind the power to act, speak and guide, you wished that everyone should choose his or her own faith and path freely.”

Zoroaster was thus the first recorded person in history to speak of total religious freedom one of the pillars of modern society!*
