Prayer

Prayers are tools not for doing or getting, but for being and becoming.

Prayer is the contemplation of the facts of life from the highest point of view. It is the spirit of God pronouncing his works good.

When you pray, do not think that God is up in the sky. God is right behind your mind.

The Lord is near to all who call upon him, to all who call upon him in truth.

Prayer is a refusal to live as an outsider to my God and my own soul.

God is the only person from whom you can hide nothing… Prayer therefore leads to a self-knowledge that is impossible to achieve any other way.

Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that thou wouldst bless me and enlarge my border, and that thy hand might be with me, and that thou wouldst keep me from harm so that it might not hurt me!” And God granted what he asked.

Interior silence is one of the most strengthening and affirming of human experiences. There is nothing more affirming in fact, than the experience of God’s presence.

In prayer we discover what we already have. You start where you are and you deepen what you already have.

We need training in the way we think and the way we use our mind. Meditation and prayer are methods for cultivating the mind.

The Great Spirit is everywhere; He hears whatever is in our minds and hearts, and it is not necessary to speak to Him in a loud voice.

Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances…

Pray continually for God’s glory that it may be redeemed from its exile.
