A Heart of Love and Gratitude

Topic: Love, Compassion, & Kindness

Human beings and nature have an inseparable relationship. We can be enlightened to God’s act of creation and His mystical truth through nature, which represents Him, only when we live in it, invest in it, and study it. We can feel the kind of infinite joy and love that God felt when He created the earth for us. When we do so, we can live each day with a heart of love and gratitude.

Hak Ja Han Moon

Hak Ja Han Moon, born on February 10, 1943, in Anju, South Pyeongan Province, now part of North Korea, fostered a deep connection with God from an early age, which significantly influenced her life's direction. At the age of six, she and her family undertook the daunting task of escaping to South Korea to avoid the challenging conditions in North Korea. This testing journey, early in life, instilled a resilience within her, underpinning her dedication to peace and unity.

In 1960, she wed the late Rev. Sun Myung Moon. Their union was more than a marriage; it was a partnership of shared goals, dedicated to creating bridges across divides. Together, they laid the groundwork, notably through the Unification movement, addressing reconciliation and unity across sectors such as education, politics, arts, and human rights. However, following the transition of her husband to the spiritual world in 2012, Dr. Moon faced the challenge of not only preserving but also expanding upon their shared legacy. With determination and vision, she took up the mantle, advancing global initiatives with renewed emphasis on education, environmental conservation, and humanitarian outreach.

Beyond her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother, Dr. Moon's leadership has been marked by her ability to continue building on the foundation she co-laid with her husband. The Marriage Blessing initiative, which they began with three couples in 1960, has grown exponentially under her stewardship, influencing millions worldwide. Her founding of the Sun Hak Peace Prize and the "Peace Starts With Me" global tour are testament to her independent initiatives post-2012, which have garnered international respect. Amid challenges and headwinds, Dr. Moon has emerged as a significant spiritual leader, both continuing the work she began with her husband and charting a distinct path forward.

About This Hak Ja Han Moon Quote [Commentary]

Hak Ja Han Moon’s quote, “We can feel the kind of infinite joy and love that God felt when He created the earth for us. When we do so, we can live each day with a heart of love and gratitude,” highlights the deep connection between humanity, nature, and the divine. In the context passage, she emphasizes the relationship between human beings and the natural world, suggesting that through living in and studying nature, we can understand God’s creation. This awareness brings a sense of joy and love, reflecting the Creator’s feelings during the act of creation.

Mother Moon encourages us to view nature as a representation of divine love and creativity. By investing in and caring for the natural world, we honor this divine connection and develop a heart full of love and gratitude. This is not just ecological responsibility; it becomes a spiritual practice where each interaction with nature is a chance to reflect the joy and love in its creation. This alignment with nature enhances our daily lives, filling them with purpose and contentment.

Mother Moon’s words also call us to embody this love in our interactions with each other. The interconnectedness that binds us to nature extends to our relationships with fellow human beings. By living with a heart of love and gratitude, inspired by the joy of creation, we can address social injustices with compassion and understanding. This approach fosters a more harmonious and just world, where every action is infused with the same divine love that underpins our existence.

The Original Beauty of Mother Nature [Excerpt]

“We keep in mind the need to stop the steady destruction of the ecosystem. We know that, in the name of economic development, we are losing the Amazon rainforest, at the cost of damaging the earth’s ecosystem. Overfishing and the rapacious killing of valuable animals for monetary profit also are a serious problem. At the same time, more than 800 million people around the world regularly go hungry. Some South American countries have abundant stocks of beef and wheat, yet they cannot prevent malnutrition. In the midst of our education and community building in Latin America, we conduct plant and animal research on how to best utilize the local resources while protecting nature.

The wings of monarch butterflies span only 8 centimeters (a little more than 3 inches), but they migrate 3,000 miles between Canada and Mexico every winter. No one taught them to do this; it is encoded in their nature.
