The unique genius that I feel we all carry is so special and sometimes hard to discern. But the inner change allows us to find that; then, the outer change requires us to be that.

The Unique Genius

Topic: Self-Cultivation & Health

There are a lot of cultural norms and systems in the world. Even something like powerit’s easy to express power in a way that is the “normal” way; for example, power over something. I’ve come to learn it’s not about being a powerful person. It’s about standing in our power, that is the authenticity of who we are. If someone is perhaps soft or if they’re vulnerable or they’re creative, standing in their power is actually standing in the fullness of the vulnerable expression of who they are and offering that geniusthat giftinto the world. So it requires inner change to really become familiar with our unique genius and expression. And outer change requires more people doing that. The unique genius that I feel we all carry is so special and sometimes hard to discern. But the inner change allows us to find that; then, the outer change requires us to be that.

About This Stacey Lawson Quotation [Commentary]

Stacey Lawson speaks to the discovery and expression of our “unique genius,” the inner gift that defines who we are. She acknowledges that recognizing this gift can be difficult, yet it emerges through “inner change.” Cultural norms often dictate expressions of power in conventional ways, but Lawson challenges this, emphasizing that true power is not about control but about “standing in the authenticity of who we are.” When individuals embrace their natural qualities—whether soft, vulnerable, or creative—they step into their power by fully expressing themselves rather than conforming to external expectations.

She clarifies that “inner change allows us to find” our unique expression, but “outer change requires us to be that.” Awareness alone is not enough; it must be lived. She highlights that transformation begins within but must extend outward through action. By standing in our power and offering our gifts to the world, we contribute to a broader shift in how power is understood—not as dominance but as authenticity. This shift invites more people to step into their truth, reinforcing the idea that genuine change arises when individuals fully embody their innate qualities.

Lawson’s words remind us that personal and societal reinvention go hand in hand. As more people recognize and express their unique genius, the world itself changes, making space for greater authenticity and diversity. Inner change allows us to discover our deepest selves, while outer change calls us to embody that discovery. By embracing this process, we participate in shaping a world where self-awareness and action create meaningful transformation.
